 Hey there!

I’ve been studying (Barely, but it counts). I’m not proud of it. Tomorrow’s my Psychology prelim, so I have to study. This might be the shortest Email Blast of them all, even though it’s just ten short from a century.

All my prelims are in January. Except for psychology, which is tomorrow. (ಠ_ಠ) . The reason for this is that my psychology teacher goes for maternity leave starting January. I guess that’s because she’s pregnant, but I’m not sure. Did you have to know this? No. But I couldn’t think of other things to write. Anyway, her wanting to reproduce has forced us to study psychology before Christmas. We were all like (ノಠ_ಠ)ノ? But she said this is for our benefit. I disagree but never mind.

Donald Trump is Time magazine’s person of the year, and rightfully so.

Cheerio.

Yoohoo!

Well happy December. We’ve made it to the last month of 2016. It wasn’t easy, but we did. Props to us.

Anyway, it’s Christmas month, which as we all know is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s Santa season and Mistletoe month. For some at least. Others might care more about holiday movies, there’s some good ones this month, like Rogue One, Passengers and Assassin’s Creed. And some like me will care more about sleeping in on cold mornings. It’s the best.

December 2016 is also the last month of regular college for me. January will have state test prelims, state test orals and other boring events. The end of December 2014 was the end of regular school, a 13 year habit. A big deal. End of college, however, elicits a ‘eh sure’ reaction, ’cause it never got to be a habit.

Speaking of habits, I gotta start studying now, because state tests this February. Like I’ve said before, this is 10th grade part two. The less exciting, mind numbing sequel to a terrible movie. I hate this franchise. Damn you, Education department of Maharashtra.

Never mind that. Be jolly. It’s the season to be.

Cheers.

Aloha ahiahi, matey!

Sounds fun, right? It should mean good evening. It’s infectious, too, ’cause I’ve said it in my head like forty times since I first thought of it.

Pretty sure that tongue is wishing us a happy thanksgiving, which was yesterday but I’m thankful for dogs all year round.

It has gotten cool lately. Not as cold as I’d like, but at least it’s not sweaty hot anymore. Today’s the 25th of November, exactly a month from Christmas. The last Christmas I won’t be an adult. Last one till science finds out how to reverse aging, that is.

I’ve gotten older over the last seventeen years. The number of white hair on my head has grown five fold.I’m not kidding, I had one white hair before, now I have five. It’s mind boggling. I also can’t make bubbles with bubblegum anymore. Or enjoy an episode of Dragon Ball Z. Actually, scratch the last one. I never liked Dragon Ball Z. Only watched it because it was social convention. Dragon Ball Z sucks.

That’s it for this week. I’m gonna watch Piku now. Bye.

Isn’t that precious? So precious. Lovely little wrinkled feet fellow. A ray of hope in this cold dead world. The saviour of this email.

Now I just woke up from a nap and am in no mood to rattle off an email. I can’t think of anything to write about. Nothing. Nada.

Tomorrow is my semester result. Tomorrow is also Saturday. The weather is weird. It’s hot during the day. It isn’t supposed to be. It’s supposed to be cold dammit. Forgive me for the abomination that is this email. My brain isn’t fully up and running yet.

love the Barack Obama-Joe Biden memes. I’m very excited for Survivor Series this Monday. Goldberg versus Brock Lesnar should be a good match.

Bye now.

I’m back !

Back from Karnataka. Sleep deprived but stronger than ever.

My Karnataka trip was an absolute blast. Now admittedly, people on this trip were more fun than most places I visited. Of the 24 students on the trip, my clique of 6 was fun. We got to know each other when we pulled an all nighter on the train ride to Karnataka. The conversation starters app, Chatoms, really helped. A conversation starters app sounds lame, we thought so too. But it worked. We talked through the night, the conversations were pleasant and occasionally hilarious, no one got sleepy. I am glad long conversations aren’t dead. I thought group texting killed ’em off.

The places, like I said, were less amazing. Everything in Bijapur was mostly meh. The Gol Gumbaz only looks pretty and big from the outside.

It’s not that big actually. It’s only seven storeys. It is Muhammed Adil Shah’s tomb, made with money taken from 15th century farmers and peasants. But it does photograph well, so there’s that. I’d like to add here, all monuments in and around Bijapur are tombs, and they all look the same. Building with a dome on top and dead people underneath.

Badami was way better. It was the Chalukya’s capital, who were democratic, secular rulers of the western Deccan plateau between 5th and 8th centuries. Nice fellas. They made temples for Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists, not for worship but for architectural and cultural grandeur. They also made beautiful caves and named a place called Aihole. Lovely people, the Chalukyas. Too bad they’re all dead. Their temple complex in Pattadakal is a UNESCO world heritage site for all the right reasons.

This is the Temple in Pattadakal where 82 Indian kings were coronated. It has glorious architecture and sculpture. The place is too beautiful to be described in words.

The best parts of the trip however, were in the hotels. There was no curfew hour and our teachers were cool. I now have relationship dirt on many of my classmates, and backstage news on my teachers and a lot of college gossip in general. Can’t wait to use it when college reopens.

On Wednesday, we were driving to Belgaum. The day after Modi shat a bomb that made 500 and 1000 buck notes illegal. I was on Twitter the entire time, updating a bus full of people Trump winning. Then at about 1 pm, he won. Most people around me said ‘shit’ or ‘fuck’. I was surprised my phone handled it all on shifty cell reception. iPhones are great for road trips. I hope Trump is great for America too.

I lost a bet to my dad about who’ll be President but now I’m mostly optimistic about a Trump presidency. Let’s hope so much power kills the racist, misogynist moron in him. I’m a little scared about his views on immigration and his stupid take on climate change, but let’s hope everything is fine. Screw that. I can’t sell the positives of Trump in power.

Good luck America. RIP the ₹1000 note.

Namaskara!

Namaskara is used as hello in Kannada. Why Kannada? Because it’s November, and today I leave for a 7-day trip to Karnataka with my college. Woo-hoo!

It’s my college’s annual history trip, this year, it’s to Bijapur, Badami, Pattadakal and Aihole(hehehe). I leave by train at 9:15 tonight, get to Bijapur tomorrow, visit the Gol Gumbaz and stuff and spend the night in Bijapur. Sunday, I leave for Badami, where I’ll stay for the next four days, visit a ton of caves and UNESCO World heritage sites around the town and get on a train back home on  Thursday and finally return home on Friday. Phew!

School trips were always fun, but they were short and most the places were meh. That’s not the case this time around. It’s me and my clique of 5 classmates, to a ~good~ place for 7 flipping days. Should be fun. Plus, there’s only 24 students on the trip, and most of them senior college students, which means less obnoxious teenagers, which is great. So good. Tremendous. ‘We’re going to build a wall! Around all obnoxious teens.’

I’ll miss US election week, and I doubt how good the cell reception is in the Satvahanas’, the Chalukyas’ and the Adil Shahis’ ancient capitals. Still, there’s always BuzzFeed.

So fellas, enjoy November, the month we realise holy shit! the year’s almost over. I got some packing to do now.

Happy Holidays !

There’s just so many festivals over this weekend it made sense to start my email with the expression I usually end my emails with. Today is Dhanteras, tomorrow is something Hindu as well, Sunday is actually Diwali and Monday is Halloween. There’s a lot going on.

Dhanteras is the most economic festival there is. It is literally only about money. This festival incites a circulation of cash money through the economy. Money is most often used to buy gold, a precious metal with no value in use but a very high value in exchange. Gold is not scarce compared several other precious metals. Gold’s economic value is propped up by central governments around the world and its exchange rates are determined twice a day, every day by a thriving bullion holding agencies. That mate, is Economics 101. Happy Dhanteras.

Moving on, tomorrow is Diwali eve, or Diwal-eve, depending on what you like to call it. Diwali eve has no economic importance. I’m not going to talk about it.

Sunday, is Diwali. The ultimate Indian festival. Also known as ‘Festival of Lights’, ‘Tropical Christmas’, and ‘If Jesus was Hindu’. Great food marks the true spirit of Diwali. It’s not Diwali if you don’t gain a kilogram or two from eating all the food. If you’re me, (which you’re not) it’s not Diwali if you don’t offend and/or ridicule at least five gods. Great festival, Diwali. Tremendous. We’re gonna build a wall to keep out nosy relatives. Happy Diwali, folks.

Monday is Halloween, a festival Americans created to get out of eating pumpkins. Smart people, Americans. Why eat massive weird oranges when you can carve ’em to look scary and create a whole festival out of it? This year Diwali and Halloween clump together. Which makes sense. If you’re scared of social situations, Diwali is your Halloween. Happy Halloween!

Happy festivities, newMacBook Pros are swell, and Paint 3D is cool. That’s about all I have for you.

Salutations!

This is Butter. She got a 12/10 rating on @dog_rates. But I think that’s low. I think Butter deserves better. 14/10, would pat gently.

I’ve made it through 5 of my seven tests so far. I’ve got two remaining, English tomorrow and History on Monday. I’m not gonna study anything today, because what kind of loser ‘studies’ English. English is super easy, except for the grammar part, which sometimes feels like Russian to me. The only problem is that my personal response answers and creative writing at the end are not exactly loved by the teachers. To please your English teacher into giving you better marks, you gotta write cheesily. Something I can’t do. Or at least something I try and fail miserably at. What I write is super opinionated, biased and kickass. ‘Communists are losers’. See? Just that one line is a super biased, kickass opinion. I’m gonna stand by that, because Communists ARE Losers.

Yesterday Nintendo launched the Nintendo Switch. This guy.

A modular, handheld gaming console. That’s right, you can slip the screen into the dock to connect and play on your TV, or attach those little things to play it like a DS. Or, take those little things off, give one to someone else and play games on the screen wirelessly. The launch trailer for it was really good, and it comes out March of 2017. I had a first generation 3DS, which broke in a year and then I got a PSP. That was in 7th grade. Since then, I’ve mostly stayed away from Nintendo. Hopefully, the Switch works as good as it looks and reels me back in.

So that’s it. I’m gonna go now, I have my English test tomorrow and I’ll prepare for it by watching some English television shows. Cheerio.

Bonjour !!!

You guessed it. I have my French test tomorrow. I’ve studied French for five years but the only day I bother using it a day before my test. Bof.

That’s French for meh. Or at least sounds like it is. French is the easiest subject I study for grades. Marks, as a layman would call it. French tests are mostly objective based, and are scored objectively too. That’s a boon for an Arts student. For some outrageous reason, all my other papers are scored subjectively most of the times. Except for the first 20 marks in objectives, long answers are king. I’m bored just writing about writing about it. Think how bored I get when I actually write those answers.

The cut offs to get into a Bachelor’s in Mass Media course in my college are 93%. There’s no work around, just 66 seats for 66 of the nerdiest nerds. So this year, I’m studying for 93%. I’ve never studied for an exact number before, and there hasn’t ever been such a strong incentive for me to study either. But that’s what really matters. A silly number, or I get stuck with a second best college. I’m gonna play my cards right this time, and get in the college I want. Actually stay in the same college. Jai Hind college has one of the best BMM courses in Bombay. So I’m gonna stick around for senior college too.

All this study talk has me bored.

If you have a schtick that can might facilitate my march to 93% in my state tests, let me know. If it works, I’ll give you a third of the profits I earn as dictator of the world. Also, if you do have a schtick, throw it to a cute little puppy and make him or her happy. Puppies love playing fetch.

Au Revoir!

 Hey-yo!

12/10, would pet. That’s your Amazon shipment for this week, which got via @dog_rates on Twitter, one of the best Twitter accounts in existence.

I did a lot of shopping this week. Split between Amazon and Myntra. Mostly because I got great deals, but also because I’m probably an online shopping addict.

I write this as I return home from college, after my PE practicals. The first time I exercised this year. ‘My palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. (Not really). Blaow! there goes Subtlety.’ I’ve Lost Myself. I’m gonna stop pretending I’m Eminem now. I’m more like a big M&M. A big lazy M&M.

My terminals begin tomorrow, so I gotta study today onwards. Tomorrow’s just my PE theory test, (Meh), but it’s a test nevertheless. Important ones like Psychology and Economics are next week, which matter. I’ll bother studying for those. But like always, I’ll delay studying till the last hour. The metaphorical eleventh or twelfth hour, I can’t remember which one.          That’s all I have for this week. I wanted to talk about the new Pixel phones and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus launch at 7 pm tonight. But they’re meh. Everything’s meh.
