WEEKLY EMAIL BLAST #119

Halló!

It’s not a typo, you get the drill. It’s Icelandic. Iceland is the last Nordic country left to discuss. We’ve gotten to week 5 of 5. This one is powered by geothermal energy. This week in Nordic countries, Iceland!

Bonus unnecessary fun fact: Eyjafjallajökull is pronounced eya-fiyatla-yoku and literally means island-mountain-glacier. Fun! It erupted in 2010, a highlight of my 5th grade summer. It screwed with my then planned trip to Europe. Stupid Eyjafjallajökull ash clouds made air travel ‘unsafe’ and the trip became a no-go.

Iceland and all Nordic countries are on my travel list. Other countries featured on the list include Peru, Chile, Russia, Mongolia, Japan, New Zealand etc. All in the temperate or frigid zones. I love cold places and absolutely love snow. Polar opposites to the hot, humid weather of my lovely hometown.

Most places I have on my travel list are places I wanna go without my family. I have travelled a lot with my parents and brother and they are not ideal travel companions. They like touristy places, I don’t.The key difference between tourism and travel? The latter has less people involved. Travelling is probably my favourite ~active~ thing to do. Nothing beats the thrill of hiking to a cold high place that looks over a beautiful landscape. And nothing is better than finding out no one else is there to ruin that thrill.

We’re out of Nordic countries. Starting next week I’ll include one anecdote. I can’t promise fun or funny, but I can promise interesting.

Tis, mate was the Weekly Email Blast, Email 119. Happy Weekend !!!
